Wedding photographer Limburg: Romantic and spontaneous wedding photos at Wijnandsrade Castle and de Biesenhof in Geleen

Last Saturday began with stunning sunshine, a bright blue sky, and a touch of mist gracing the fields. Singing along to the tunes on my drive, I headed to Schimmert for one of my final wedding shoots of the year in South Limburg. This wedding was particularly memorable, filled with countless spontaneous and journalistic moments that captured the magic of the day.

Bridal preparations in a charming home

The bride began her day in the comfort of their beautiful old home. A makeup artist worked her magic, while the bride’s mother assisted her in dressing up. Her wedding dress was unique—shorter than traditional floor-length gowns—giving it a modern, elegant touch. The groom arrived in a beautifully decorated classic red wedding car, ready to pick up his bride. Both the car and the home were adorned with stunning floral arrangements, setting the tone for the day.

Civil ceremony at Wijnandsrade Castle

Our first destination was the enchanting Wijnandsrade Castle. The civil ceremony took place in a historic, character-filled room, packed with loved ones. The presence of many young children brought warmth and spontaneity to the occasion, creating delightful photo opportunities.

After the ceremony, the couple celebrated with a toast and a delicious wedding cake. The groom even sabered the champagne bottle—a fantastic moment to capture! Following this, we strolled through the castle grounds for portraits of the couple with their daughter, making the most of the beautiful tree-lined avenue and the nearby sheep-filled meadows.

Religious ceremony in Schimmert

After a relaxed sandwich lunch and cake, we proceeded to Schimmert for the religious ceremony. Live music accompanied the heartfelt vows, creating an atmosphere of joy and love. Once again, the day was filled with meaningful and photogenic moments.

Reception and photos at de Biesenhof

The day concluded at de Biesenhof, where the family enjoyed a cozy reception with drinks and snacks. We took additional photos, including portraits in a vibrant rapeseed field, followed by family group shots. The evening wrapped up with a delicious dinner, after which I returned to document the lively party atmosphere and the couple’s traditional opening dance.
