Wedding photographer in Limburg: Outdoor wedding at the courtyard of Kasteel Erenstein in Kerkrade
It's not often that I get to photograph a cosmopolitan wedding day. When this fearless couple met, they didn't even live on the same continent. He was born and raised in Kerkrade, she was Australian. But love is... not giving up, and now they have created a new 'home' together in Sweden. Two people accustomed to doing their own thing also celebrate their big day in their own way. It had to be an outdoor wedding in a castle, magical and intimate. In a courtyard whose walls embrace all loved ones.
The bride's family and friends had flown in from Australia not to miss this moment. Everyone visibly enjoyed the time together. The bride, together with her friends, had everything under control, putting on makeup and getting dressed calmly. Her vintage wedding dress had belonged to her grandmother. Just like the veil, which stole the show even more than the dress. The groom had to enlist the help of his best friend to quickly iron his shirt. Not according to plan, but very funny!
As the bride descended the stairs of the castle, it seemed as if she had stepped out of a postcard from the roaring twenties. The bouquet was blue-purple, matching his royal blue suit and the purple dresses of the bridesmaids. She only lifted the veil when she was with him, just like in the past. After the ceremony and dinner, I took the newlyweds to the gardens of the castle to take wedding photos.
All day long, I had been hunting for that spontaneous moment, that look that was just a little different. Unexpectedly, it happened during the first dance. Fun, excitement, attraction, and once again that fearlessness were present in all their movements. Even the fringes of her Charleston dress joined in cheerfully. It didn't take long before brothers, mothers, fathers, bridesmaids, and friends were on the dance floor too.
