Wedding Photographer Limburg: Candid Wedding Photos at the Abbey of Rolduc and De Twee Gezusters in Heerlen
On the way to a wedding reportage, I received a call from the groom asking if I could capture their wedding on Sunday, February 2, 2020. The date 02.02.20 was a special one the groom wouldn’t easily forget. The couple had requested a short 2-hour wedding photography session.
They booked me based on Google reviews, without having met in person. Given the rainy weather, we arranged to meet at 1 PM at the Abbey of Rolduc in Kerkrade. After a brief introduction, we began the photoshoot right away. We started in the grand staircase, with its beautiful steps, before heading to the Rococo library—one of my favorite spots for a wedding shoot, especially on rainy days.
Romantic Wedding Photos in the Library
In the library, we captured romantic wedding photos by the large windows, where natural light poured in beautifully. The stunning ceilings and bookshelves filled with old books provided a perfect backdrop for some unique and intimate shots. I then suggested they sit together at the piano, creating a lovely, timeless moment.
Quick Transition to De Twee Gezusters
We only had 30 minutes for the photoshoot, so I quickly made my way to Heerlen. I parked my car in the Q-Park garage and walked to the chapel at De Twee Gezusters, where the guests had already taken their seats. After a quick greeting with the officiant and light adjustments, the ceremony began.
The Ceremony and Group Photos
The bride and groom entered the chapel together, greeted by applause from the guests. The ceremony was beautiful, with heartfelt speeches from a close friend and a family member. After the ceremony, I took a few group photos to capture the guests celebrating.
Closing Shots: Coffee and Limburgse Vlaai
To conclude this short but sweet wedding reportage, I took a few final shots of the room where everyone enjoyed coffee and Limburgse vlaai. It was a wonderful and intimate celebration, and I’m so glad I was able to document these special moments for the couple.
