Spontaneous Wedding Reportage in Maastricht: Outdoor Wedding at Castle de Hoogenweerth
Last Saturday was a beautiful sunny day. It was quite windy along the Maas, but it was a delightful day for a wedding, just not too warm.
I began this wedding reportage by capturing the guests' arrival at the castle. They slowly trickled in and engaged in cheerful conversations with each other. The bride and groom had already mingled among the guests.
With the bride, groom, and their children, I started capturing some wedding photos in the bridal suite above the castle. Just before the wedding ceremony was set to begin, the couple appeared on the balcony of the suite, waving to the guests. Subsequently, all guests took their seats, with the groom stepping forward first, followed by the bride with their two children.
During a super fun wedding ceremony, led by two actors and musically accompanied by a guitarist, there was much laughter but also a few tears shed. Speeches were given, the children performed something special, and rings were exchanged, with the children also receiving a ring.
After the ceremony, there was a delightful wedding cake with coffee on the terrace along the Maas, followed by the traditional time for group photos and a brief photoshoot together in the park surrounding the castle.
At 4:00 PM, there was a champagne toast on the steps, after which everyone slowly gathered for the wedding dinner, which consisted of a delightful grill buffet.
At 6:00 PM, I bid farewell to the gathering as their wedding photographer.
