Who wouldn’t want to get married at Vaeshartelt, a stunning venue that combines history and elegance with beautiful gardens? I had the privilege of capturing a truly magical wedding in this iconic location, from the bride’s morning preparations to the final dance under the stars.
Morning Preparations in the Mirror Hall of Vaeshartelt
I arrived at eleven in the morning in the Mirror Hall, where the bride was preparing for the day. The atmosphere was wonderfully relaxed, with George Michael playing softly in the background, while the talented hairdresser, Noel, worked on the bride’s hair.
Her best friend then did her makeup, and in the meantime, I took photos of the gorgeous lace wedding dress, the exquisite lace wedding shoes, and visited the bridal suite where the groom and their four children were getting ready with the groom’s parents.
It was a lively scene in the small bridal suite, with two videographers also capturing moments.
First Look in the Secret Garden
After the bride was dressed, I returned to the Mirror Hall where she got into her wedding gown. The couple’s first meeting in their wedding attire was planned in Vaeshartelt’s secret garden on the advice of wedding planner Loes. I accompanied the bride to the garden where she waited with her back turned to the entrance. As her groom approached with the bridal bouquet, it was a beautiful and emotional moment.

Next, we took the wedding portraits of the couple together, and then with the children. Some of the photos were taken indoors in the beautifully decorated castle, and others in the lush gardens under the trees. There was even a colorful circus wagon in the garden, which added a unique touch to the wedding photos.
Ceremony under the Tree
After the photoshoot, we made our way to the ceremony location under a beautiful tree in the garden. The ceremony was enhanced by live music performed by a pianist, and personal stories about the couple were shared by close friends and family.
Toast, Wedding Cake, and Group Photos
Freshly married, it was time for the toast and the cutting of the stunning wedding cake. Afterward, the guests gathered on the terrace, enjoying the cake and mingling.
The next agenda item was the group photos, for which I had great assistance from the entertainment team, helping me gather the guests for the shots.
Wedding Dinner and Festivities
After the group photos, the guests were invited into the elegantly decorated hall for the wedding dinner. Speeches, a fun quiz, and a musical menu kept the atmosphere light and entertaining, putting everyone in a festive mood. There was dancing, laughter, and an overall sense of joy throughout the evening.
A Perfect Ending with a Closing Dance
The beautiful wedding day came to a close with a final dance on the terrace, surrounded by all the guests, celebrating the newlyweds.
