"Spontaneous and journalistic wedding reportage in Limburg: A winter wedding with wedding pictures at sunset at Castle Terworm in Heerlen
It's been a while since this wedding photography was booked. The initial contact was through email, and afterward, we met in person. This lovely couple from Limburg moved north, but for their wedding, they returned to Limburg.
I love bridal photography in winter. Because the sun sets earlier, the lighting conditions change. It's simply wonderful how I can play with backlight during this time.
The day began for me with photographing the preparations. I was in the bustling hotel room of the bride at Castle Terworm. One person cleaned the baby, another cleared the table, while makeup artist Marlou applied the makeup, and I could capture some beautiful detail shots. When the calm returned, I could focus on the spontaneous and journalistic wedding reportage and document everything as it unfolded.
After the bride was helped into her dress, it was time for her to carefully descend the stairs, where her father proudly awaited her. Together, they walked over the bridge into the garden, where the groom welcomed them.
It was a warm winter day, and the doors of the orangery remained open. This presented an extraordinary opportunity for me to capture images from a slightly different perspective of the beautiful wedding ceremony. After the ceremony, the wedding guests formed an honor guard, throwing rose petals on the newlyweds.
It was time for group pictures, cutting the wedding cake, and atmospheric images of the toast. Then, I photographed the couple walking through the Terworm estate.
Of course, we were back in the castle in time for the feast. As all the guests sat at the table, the mother and brother-in-law of the bride gave a speech. All in all, a day full of emotional and photogenic moments.
