Wedding Photography at Chateau Urspelt in Luxembourg: A unique Chinese wedding with wedding photos in traditional attire, as well as in wedding attire

This wedding reportage was booked through Instagram. The couple, consisting of a Chinese bride and a Belgian groom from Wallonia, found me through Instagram. Both reside in Frankfurt and decided to celebrate their wedding at the beautiful Chateau Urspelt in Luxembourg.

On Sunday, August 12, I drove through the Ardennes to this special wedding. It's not often that a wedding reportage takes place on a Sunday, and it's also not common for me to photograph a wedding abroad (also known as a destination wedding). I began by capturing the makeup and the bride's preparations. The bride, along with her mother, had her makeup done in the bridal suite. This room was beautifully decorated in a Chinese style. In between, I briefly visited another hotel room where the groom and bridesmaids were getting ready. There was a buzz of activity in this hotel room. After briefly capturing this, I returned to the bride to document the process of her mother fastening the wedding gown.

Following this, it was time to head to the courtyard of the castle, where the wedding ceremony took place. The ceremony was conducted in both Chinese and French. It was my first outdoor civil ceremony, where the couple stood throughout the entire ceremony. Beneath a beautiful flower arch, they exchanged vows, and during the ceremony, the groom surprised her with a lovely video showcasing their experiences over the past 7 years. After the wedding ceremony, there was a toast in the courtyard, followed by group photos. During an elaborate wedding lunch in a beautifully decorated banquet hall, the (ice) wedding cake was cut, and then it was time to greet the other wedding guests outside. Subsequently, the couple made their entrance for the third time, this time in traditional Chinese attire. In this outfit, we also captured some romantic wedding photos, and then we continued with a wedding reportage in the traditional white wedding gown. The bride had three wedding outfits that day; during lunch, she wore a red wedding dress.

After the wedding photoshoot, it was time to head to the banquet hall for a game organized by friends for the newlyweds. The game consisted of various statements, with the couple sitting back-to-back on chairs, and they had to lift each other's shoes when the statement applied to one of them.

Following the game, there was the traditional first dance, and afterward, the dinner buffet was opened.v
